Description

Charity auction of an Official Ball of Sport Lisboa Benfica - current Portuguese Football Champion - autographed by Benfica players and donated to the Health Marathon by the Benfica Club under a solidarity partnership established with the Health Marathon in 2014.

Some of the players of Sport Lisboa Benfica who signed this ball are: Maxi Pereira, Garay, Cardozo, Jardel, Luisão, Ruben Amorim and Nico Gaitán.

The Health Marathon is a non-profit association whose mission is to sensitize society to various diseases and to finance Science in Portugal in the Health area through the Health Marathon Awards in biomedical Research.

The 4th Edition of the Health Marathon is being dedicated to Cardiovascular Diseases, following previous editions related to Cancer, Diabetes and Neurodegenerative Diseases.

The value raised in this initiative will help fund the Health Marathon Awards in biomedical research in the area of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Thanks to the regular donations we received, we have funded 9 scientists working in a number of areas, including Cancer (breast, colon and pancreatic cancer), diabetes (obesity and childhood type 1 diabetes) and Neurodegenerative Diseases (Alzheimer's disease). Scientists who have already received the Health Marathon Awards work in several research institutions in Portugal, namely in Faro, Lisbon, Porto, Oeiras and Coimbra.

The 5th Edition of the Health Marathon, which will start in July 2017, will be dedicated to Autoimmune Diseases and Allergies.

Science can change statistics. Join researchers working in Portugal and the Health Marathon. Prevention and support for scientific research in this area are essential in combating these diseases.
